ABOUT MAUREEN

My art practices involve consciously inviting the power of creativity to heal, awaken and shift energy.

I went the addictive path as a teen and young adult and soon realized that I was in deep trouble. I had stopped creating during this dark time.

I had a soul sickness and needed to seek recovery.

I got sober and really began utilizing the creative process for Healing and Transformation.

To practice any art no matter how well or badly is a way to make your soul grow, so do it!

— KURT VONNEGUT

………

I studied Art and Psychology and got a degree in Art Education in my home state of Connecticut.

I taught Art to all levels and ran a small private art school for 3 years until moving South.

I got married and soon started a family.

Becoming a mother impacted not only the way I lived, but how I was created as an Artist.

Art became more than an outlet or a tool for well-being.

Motherhood became a journey that fueled me with an urgent and desperate need to reclaim the creative piece of myself I had abandoned.

Having a family is one of the greatest gifts, and having a creative practice not only sustained me but continually guided me during times of fatigue, stress, and uncertainty of parenthood.

I am filled with gratitude that life has brought me to a place where I can find such nourishment and connection in life and fulfll my purpose by guiding others in their unique creative journey.

When I am not in the studio or teaching a workshop, there's a good chance you will find me in my garden, doing yoga, playing with my cat, or sipping coffee with friends.

……

Are you ready for...

Some colorful nourishment for your soul?

A way to express yourself authentically?

A deeper connection to yourself?

Do you want more time for listening?

Are you tired of feeling last on your list?

Are you tired of feeling tired?

My purpose and passion is to hold safe spaces for those wanting to find, nourish & explore their creativity.

  • Megan McFadden

I joined Maureen in her studio for a Creative Workshop experience. Maureen creates a nourishing space for one to step into and nurture their own creative spirit. Maureen reminds me that practicing creativity is a soulful healing process that is for everyone, not just those who identify as artists, what a gift!

    Thank you Maureen!

  • Debbie Fortinelli

I have purchased many of Maureen’s prints and originals over the years. Each piece tells a story through the detailed layers of her technique and artistry. I have purchased directly through her and on her website. Everything comes perfectly packaged and ready to be framed! I have always been happy with the quality of her products and her service!

  • Ami Erkensten

I really enjoyed Maureen's creative online class. She is very generous and gentle. I found her class to be unique in that she combines soul & art. Setting intentions before beginning gives the art work a deeper meaning and is a perfect exercise for personal development. This particular creative practice she shared will forever be one of my favorites. I intend on continuing to create this way! Thank you Maureen!

Art Journaling January 2022 Issue

In the January 2022 issue of Art Journaling magazine, you will find a fun and easy way to recycle items you probably have in your home and connect to a soulful practice.

In the Soulful Moments: Paper Bag Journals article, I share a fun way to make your own journal out of a paper grocery bag and other art supplies. There is no previous art experience required!

This project started out as a contribution to an Earth Day collaboration with other artists, and it has turned into a fun way to make your own travel sized journal. Once completed, these make great gifts as well as great for personal use.

Brush Magazine

I was inspired on World Peace Day to create this and that's why I titled it, My Prayer for Peace.

I began to collage bits and pieces of paper, then drawing outline of the figure, then painting and back to college again.

I love going back and forth from wet to dry mediums.

I couldn't think of a better way of spending the day. The meaning behind this image is that  when we make art it is not only healing for ourselves but it benefits all those we are connected to.

The positive energy we cultivate as we create is like an active prayer being sent out into the world. The quote “Kindness is a Vehicle for Peace” by Iqra Khan really embodies the overall message of this piece.
